Utilities & Appliances
Hot Water
Hot water is powered by electricity, so please ensure the switch is left on at all times — there is no hot water storage tank.
Please avoid turning on any other taps when the shower is in use. Turning on other taps will reduce the water pressure which will in turn affect the water temperature of the shower.
Kitchen Tap
In the kitchen, water is heated by a small water heater under the sink. It takes time to heat when the hot tap is first turned on; it's more effective if you turn the hot tap slowly towards full pressure, as this allows time for the water to heat as it comes through.
Shower
The shower is powered by a separate switch located above the bathroom door, and will be left switched on for your convenience.
Hob & Fridge
The hob and fridge are jointly linked via a single switch, so please ensure this is left on at all times. Please do not place anything on the hob after cooking while it remains hot — it is not an induction hob, so it retains heat.
Cooking & Extractor Fan
When cooking, please turn on the extractor fan to prevent steam building up, which can activate fire/heat detectors.
Waste Water
Waste water is stored in a septic tank system, so please do not dispose of any sanitary products, cosmetic wipes, or anything other than toilet paper in the toilet, as it may cause a blockage — which would be unpleasant for everyone.
Door Security & Lock
This is a very safe neighbourhood with a low crime rate. The door lock can confuse people from other countries, so here's how it works:
To lock the door:
- Slide the door fully towards the frame and make sure it's fully closed before trying to lock it.
- Lift the lever up to lock.
- Turn the key.
To open the door:
- Turn the key first.
- Push the lever down to release the mechanism.
There is also a thumbscrew lock on the inside of the door — no key required when you are inside.
Rubbish & Recycling
Please place rubbish in the black bin outside. There is also a plastic crate provided for recyclable items — place these in the crate and we will recycle them accordingly.
Departure
Please do not check out later than 10am on your day of departure.
